CPWDA establishes minimum certification standards, provides certification testing, and hosts ongoing in-service training for police canine teams in Connecticut and across the Northeast. Since our inception, we have offered approximately 65 training workshops and classroom lectures to police canine officers, and currently have around 300 teams utilizing the certification standards for patrol and narcotic detection.
Our annual Daniel Wasson Memorial Canine Award honors an active canine team who exemplifies the highest tradition of police canine law enforcement.
Subject to availability, we offer free K-9 Team demos to schools and events. These demos are designed to portray the skill involved and work performed by the K-9 teams on a daily basis, giving both children and adults an opportunity to gain knowledge and ask questions.
Join us in remembering and honoring the K-9 officers and K-9s who heroically lost their lives protecting our communities.
Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions or require further information.
