Deputy Dave Scherping

Dave Scherping, 51, a former Morrison County Deputy died in a motorcycle accident on 6/3/23 during the afternoon. Scherping was riding his motorcycle south on County Road 5 when he approached the intersection of County Road 4. A driver in a pickup truck heading north made a left turn in front of Scherping. He collided with the truck and was thrown from the bike. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the truck, a 57-year-old man from Becker, was not hurt. Scherping was a Morrison County deputy and a K9 handler for several years. He leaves behind  Austin Scherping, Connor Scherping, Brenden Scherping, Chase Scherping, Riley Scherping and Jacob Fasching. He was preceded in death by his infant son Christopher Scherping. He is also the father of the current K9 handler, Deputy Austin Scherping.
