Deputy Tucker Blakely, 29, of the Knox County Sheriff’s Office died on 10/2/23 from wounds he suffered on 10/1/23 while responding to a domestic call at approximately 11:15 p.m. to a home on the 2300 block of Denver Lane in the Solway community. Deputies responded where they encountered an armed individual at the residence. Shots were fired by both the individual and at least one of the deputies. Deputy Blakely was rushed to the University Medical Center but died. The suspect, Matthew Logan Rose, 30, was pronounced dead on the scene. Blakely was an Army veteran and was an organ donor. He had just been selected to be a K9 handler and had just picked up his dog two days before he was shot. Deputy Blakely is survived by his wife, Katarina, and five-year-old son.
