Lieutenant Walter R. Bowers

Walter R. “Gus” Bowers died on 8/15/24 at the age of 88. He served as a canine officer with the Oak Ridge Police Department. He also served in the Navy. In 1965 he joined the Oak Ridge Police Department in Tennessee. He became a Sergeant in 1969 and then promoted to Lieutenant Detective in 1982 and retired in 1998. During his time in the police force he was proud to be one of the founders of the Honor Guard for Oak Ridge. His wife Betty Jo Cambell preceded him in death. He leaves behind a daughter Cyndi Lee Bowers. Donations may be made to local animal shelters.
