Officer Christian Tyler Smith, 32, of the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety died on 10/8/22 following a seven month battle with leukemia. Smith was a six-year veteran of the department, serving as an officer, firefighter, drug investigator, field training officer and police dog handler. Smith was a U.S. Marine before joining Kalamazoo Public Safety. He is survived by his wife, Samatha Smith( Sanford children, Brooks Michael and Camden Tyler. Those wishing to donate to the family can do so at any Lake Michigan Credit Union branch, where an account has been created under Samantha Smith’s name.
