Officer Daniel Gumm died on 11/2/22. Gumm was an eighteen year veteran with Wichita Police Department. He joined the Army before joining the Wichita Police Department in 2004. In his last 12 years with the department, he worked as a K-9 handler, trainer and judge. Gumm had metastatic esophageal cancer that had spread to his liver that was diagnosed during the summer. He leaves behind a wife, three children, and WPD K-9 Bane. His K-9 partner, Rooster, died in the line of duty attempting an arrest on March 18, 2017. Gumm will now “be reunited with his former partner, K-9 Rooster.”
