Robert “Bobby” Kenyon Jr., 47, passed away on 4/20/23 unexpectedly at Yale New Haven Hospital after a brief battle with a highly aggressive bacterial blood infection with his family by his bedside. Officer Kenyon served with URI Police for just over five years. He was employed there up until his passing. Prior to that, he spent sixteen years with the Hopkinton Police Department where he retired as a sergeant. His passion as a K-9 handler was shown in both Departments alongside his companions Axel and Phender. Officer Kenyon and was his K9 partner, Phender, was a black Labrador Retriever and was certified in Narcotics by NESPAC and NAPWDA and worked with the University of Rhode Island Police Department. Kenyon graduated from Chariho High School in 1994 , after graduating he served in the U.S. Coast Guard and completed four years of active duty. He leaves behind his wife Carrie and two children, Jordynn Cahoon and Robert W. Kenyon III.
