Sgt. Harry Cohen, 48, with the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department  died while on duty on 10/19/20 of a heart attack while training with the K9 group. Harry spent many years on the team as a well-respected handler, and currently supervised the team. Cohen served with the Sheriff’s Department since 1996. In that time, he worked as a deputy at the Banning, Lake Elsinore and Southwest stations. He was promoted to sergeant in 2010. Over the last decade, he worked both patrol and later training assignments. Most recently, he served in the department’s Special Enforcement Bureau as a supervisor for the K-9 unit. The unit includes 28 officers, each with a patrol-service dog they partner with for the dog’s entire career. Cohen is survived by his wife, son and daughter.
