Sheriff Barry Lynn DeLau

Sheriff Barry Lynn DeLau , 79, died peacefully at Woodland Hospice House on 10/14/22 with his family at his side. DeLau retired in 2005, was well known for his German Shepherd police dog companions, Major and Shadow. DeLau brought to Isabella County a K9 program that became a valuable addition to police throughout the county. He worked as an officer for seventeen years before running for Sheriff of Isabella County. He served in the Army National Guard. He and his wife Mary Jo Fortino DeLau raised their children Lisa and Barry II. Memorials can be made to Woodland Hospice House or the Michigan Sheriffs Association.
